The Asset Snapshot Date

The DHS provides that a determination of the assets of the married couple is to be made at the time that one spouse begins a continuous period of institutionalization. This could be at the time of hospitalization, if transfer to a long-term care facility immediately followed the hospitalization, or will commence at the time of admission to a long-term care facility. In any event, the first day of continuous institutionalization is called the "snapshot date."
