Spousal Asset Allowance

For 2008, the community spouse is entitled to one-half of the countable assets, not to exceed $104,400, but with a guaranteed minimum of $20,880. Assets in excess of the community spouse resource allowance, will be considered available for the institutionalized spouse and will have to be disposed of or protected before Medicaid benefits will be considered available for the institutionalized spouse.
