New Michigan Allowances

For married persons applying for medical assistance after January 1, 2008, the community spouse is entitled to a minimum asset or resource allowance of $20,880. The new maximum asset or resource allowance for a community spouse is $104,440.

The minimum monthly income allowance for a community spouse is $1,712, the monthly utility allowance is $587 and the monthly excess shelter allowance is $516. Total monthly income allowances for the community spouse cannot exceed $2,610.

The gift divisor amount for 2008 is $6,191.
